(Figure) The granite of the deposit"VOZROZHDENIE" (RU: "Возрождение") is the deposit of the granites within the Leningrad province of the Russian Federation. This deposit is situated at the distance of 26 kilometres to the north-east of the Vyborg city. This deposit is being developed since the 1918. Within the limits of this deposit, there are allocated 8 places, which are being developed by the quarry administrations within the Vyborg and Kamennogorsk cities, and by the "Vuoksa" industrial plant for the production of the crushed gravel. The reserves of the granite for the block stone are 3510 million cubic metres (1982). The deposit is confined to the peripheral (south-west) part of the intrusion of the trachytoid granites, which is the part of the Vyborg intrusive massif. The granites have been explored at the depth of 7-21 metres. The thickness of the overlying depositions, which are represented by the sand-gravel material, is 2.0-13.3 metres (the average thickness is 5.3 metres). The granites are broken by the system of the horizontal cracks (the distance between these cracks is 0.1-8 metres) with the angle of the dip of 2 degrees, and by the two systems of the vertical cracks (the distance between these cracks is 0.8-25 metres) with the azimuth of the dip of 150 degrees and 238 degrees.

The granites are of the pinkish-gray and gray colours; the density is 2560-2690 kilograms per cubic metre; the temporary resistance against the compression (in the dry state) is 82-242 megapascals; the water absorption is up to 0.03%; the abrasion is 0.14-0.31 grams per square centimetre. The granites are processed well, and may be polished to the status of the mirror-like surface. The yield of the blocks from the rock mass is from 11 to 46.5%, the yield of the slabs with the thickness of 40 millimetres and 30 millimetres from 1 cubic metre of the block is 17 and 23 square metres respectively. The extraction of the blocks is performed using the two benches (the average height is 2-9.1 metres). The separation of the monoliths from the massif is performed using the drilling-blasting method; as the explosive substances, they use the gunpowder. They position the blastholes parallel to the stope into one row with the depth, which is equal to the height of the bench, in accordance with the horizontal crackedness; the width of the monolith, which is being separated, is 2-9 metres. The division of the monolith into the measured blocks and billets is performed using the drilling-wedging method. The mining-transporting equipment is: the automotive cranes, the automotive dump trucks, the bulldozers, and the excavators. The main consumers of the raw materials are the Leningrad combined enterprise for the facing materials, the Cherkizovsky industrial plant of the Mosmetrostroy within Moscow, and the Moskovskiy stone-processing combined enterprise. The annual extraction of the useful minerals is 9.8 thousand cubic metres of the blocks (there are produced 45 thousand metres of the curb stones, and 3 thousand square metres of the granite products), and 23.4 thousand cubic metres of the crushed gravel (1980). Of the granites of the "Vozrozhdenie" deposit, they produce the slabs with the polished, grinded, and spot texture, mostly for the facing of the plinth part of the buildings (for example, the building of the Central Committee of Komsomol within Moscow, and others), for the laying of the floors (many stations of the Moscow Metropolitan subway), and for the staircases.
