Vonyavin, Stepan Leontievich

VONYAVIN, Stepan Leontievich (1738-26.2.1806) (RU: Вонявин, Степан Леонтьевич) was the Russian miner. Vonyavin has graduated from the Ekaterinburg Mining-Industrial School (1758). Vonyavin was the participant in the academic expedition (1768-72) to the Caucasus, where he has explored the deposits of the useful minerals within the Terek-Sunzha basin, and has compiled the first maps of these deposits. Vonyavin was the discoverer of the gold deposits within the Troitsk district (1796), he was the manager of the Kushvinsky industrial plant (1798), and the supervisor of the Ekaterinburg Mining-Industrial School (1800).
