EMERGENCY LIGHTING, ELECTRICAL (EN: emergency lighting, emergency electricity; DE: Notstromnetz, elektrische Notbeleuchtung; FR: eclairage de secousr; ES: alumbrado de emergencia; RU: аварийное освещение электрическое) is the lighting of the facilities of the various purposes, which is not terminated, or is switched on automatically into action, by the sudden disconnection of the working (main) lighting sources.
It is dedicated to ensure the evacuation of the people, or the temporary continuation of the operations, at the facilities, where the sudden disconnection of the working lighting creates the danger of the injury, or of the unacceptable violation of the technological process. In order to ensure the evacuation of the people, the electrical emergency lighting is provided: in the dangerous to pass places; in the main passageways and stairways, which are used for the exit from the industrial and public buildings, where more than 50 persons are located; in the industrial indoor areas where the quantities of the workers or of the persons at the same time are, respectively, 50 and 100 persons, the exit of the people from which without the working lighting is associated with the danger of the injury by the equipment.
The least illumination on the floor or the steps of the buildings, which must be created by the electrical emergency lighting in order to ensure the evacuation of the people is 0.5 lux, and 0.2 lux in the outdoor areas. The illumination at the extraction and processing mining enterprises is regulated by the rules and regulations of the industry.
The least illumination from the sources of the electrical emergency lighting on the working surfaces which require maintenance must be 5% of the rated illumination for the working lighting, but not less than 2 lux in the indoor area, and 1 lux in the open areas. It should not be greater than 30 lux and 5 lux for these objects respectively without the special justification.
The electrical emergency lighting is provided for the temporary continuation of the work at the mining enterprises: in the buildings of the lifting machine, of the main ventilation system, of the compressor, in the engine rooms of the refrigerators, in the pithead trunk buildings, in the buildings of the waste dumps winches and the cable ways, in the decontamination plants, boilers, coal bunkers, in the administrative-domestic combines.
In the listed buildings, except the buildings of the lifting machines, the usage of the individual lamps, which are powered by the electric battery, that are connected to the independent power supply or automatically switch to it, is acceptable for the electrical emergency lighting. Their connection is performed by the separate network, starting from the switch panel of the substations, or with only one existing input directly from it. The use of the electrical power supply networks for the electrical emergency lighting is not accepted.
In the buildings, where more than 100 persons may be located, the power supply for the sources of the electrical emergency lighting for the ensuring of the evacuation is carried out in the normal mode from the external source, and at the time of its disconnection as the result of the automatic switching, from the other external source or the local independent source (rechargeable battery, etc.).
In the underground workings, the electrical emergency lighting is provided by the individual rechargeable lamps, without which, according to the safety rules, is prohibited to descend into the mine.
