BRIQUETTE PRESS (EN: briquetting press; DE: Brikettpresse; FR: presse à briqueter; ES: prensa briqueteadora; RU: брикетный пресс) is the machine for the briquetting of the small-lump materials. According to the value of the specific pressure for the compression, they distinguish the briquette presses of the low and medium (20-100 megapascals), high (100-150 megapascals), and ultra-high (200-500 megapascals) pressure. There belong to the first group the roller, table, and rotary presses, there belong to the second group the punch presses, and there belong to the third group the annular presses. They use the roller, table, and rotary briquette presses for the briquetting of the mineral coals, ores and ore concentrates, wastes from production, and so on; they use the punch briquette presses for the briquetting of the young lignites and peat; they use the annular briquette presses for the mature lignites. Within the industry, they use mostly the roller, table, and punch briquette presses.
The roller briquette press:
- - the vertical pre-press;
- - the rollers of the press;
- - the mover.
The roller briquette press comprises the frame, on which there are mounted one or two pairs of rollers, the distribution bowl, and the mover. On the rims of the rollers, there are mounted the steel bandages, with the cells, which have been cut into their surface in the checkered order, in the form of the symmetric halves of the dies for the briquettes. The compression of the batch mixture proceeds within the space between the rollers, which are rotating each towards another (Figure # 1).
For the increasing of the pressure for the compression, for the decreasing of the consumption for the binding substances, and for the improvement of the physical-mechanical properties of the briquettes, they install above the rollers the dispensers with the pre-presses (vertical augers for pre-pressing, centrifugal feeders, and so on), which are ensuring the preliminary compression of the briquette batch mixture, and which are increasing the pressure up to 100 megapascals. The productivity (for the coal briquettes) is up to 80 tonnes per hour.
The table briquette press represents by itself the three-position revolving semi-automatic machine tool with the one-sided single-stage compression (the productivity is more than 3000 pieces per hour). The perfected briquette press is the completely automated universal machine of the mechanical-hydraulical type with reciprocating motion of the table. The method for compression is single-stage, double-sided, with the upper pre-pressing. The press develops the specific pressure of up to 37 megapascals, the productivity is more than 5000 pieces per hour.
The two-punch briquette press:
- - the frame;
- - the worm gear;
- - the handwheel for the adjustment of the position for the plate and matrices;
- - the hopper with the drum feeder for the supply of sushonka into the channel of the press;
- - the mover of the press;
- - the fixation for the punches.
The punch briquette press comprises the loading device, press head, pressing mechanism, frame with the punches, which are situated within the frame, and mover (Figure # 2).
Within the die channel of the press, the punch performs the reciprocating motion, and during the movement forward, is pushing the sushonka (dry tiny pieces of the source material) from the loading channel into the die channel, and is pressing it into the briquette. At the initial position of the punch, the channel is opened for the loading of sushonka into it. During the movement of the punch backward, there proceed the elastic expansion of the newly formed briquette, and the supply of the fresh portion of sushonka into the loading channel.
The productivity of the presses is up to 4 tonnes per hour per 1 punch, the specific pressure is 60-150 megapascals. The punch presses with the cylindrical die ensure the best physical-mechanical properties for the briquettes.
The principle of action for the annular briquette presses of the ultra-high pressure is based on the compression of sushonka between the pressing ring and disc, which are both rotating, within the gradually narrowing matrix channel.
The briquette presses are serially issued within the USSR (punch, table), East Germany (punch), West Germany (all types), USA (roller, table), France (roller, table), Great Britain (roller), Switzerland (punch), and other countries .
