BITUMOIDS (EN: bitumoide; DE: Bitumoide; FR: bitumoïdes; ES: betuminoide; RU: битумоиды) are the components of the organic matter within the rocks, and soils. They possess the ability to dissolve themselves within the organic solvents (chloroform, carbon disulfide, benzene, alcohol-benzene mixture, and others). They belong to the composition of the natural bitumens. The bitumoids, which have been isolated by the method of extraction, represent by themselves the liquid, often viscous mass, which is consisting of the oils, resins, and asphaltenes. They distinguish the syn-bitumoids (which are syngenetic with the country rocks), and the epi-bitumoids (which have migrated into the country rocks from the other rocks).
