Base level of denudation

BASE LEVEL OF DENUDATION (EN: base level of denudation, denudation base; DE: Denudationsbasis; FR: base de denudation; ES: base de denudacion; RU: базис денудации) is the level of the surface of the land, below which the denudation does not proceed, and the movement of the slope depositions stops.

The base level of denudation may coincide with the foot of the slope, or with the top of the leaning against it plume of the slope depositions (scree, diluvium, and others), below which the denudation is replaced by accumulation. On the base level of denudation, subject to its stable position during the long periods of the geological time, there form themselves the surfaces of the leveling, pediplains.
