BARATOV, Rauf Baratovich

BARATOV, Rauf Baratovich (RU: Баратов, Рауф Баратович) is the Soviet geologist, the academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Tajik SSR (1968). He is the member of the CPSU since the 1949. He has graduated from the Central Asian (now Tashkentian, named after V. I. Lenin) university (1945). Since the 1948, he works at the Institute of geology of the Academy of Sciences of the Tajik SSR (since the 1953, the director). He was the Academician-secretary of the Division for the physical-mathematical and geological-chemical sciences (1959-76); since the 1976, he is the vice-president of the Academy of Sciences of the Tajik SSR. He has characterized the magmatic complexes of the Hissar ridge and the mineralization, which is associated with it, has developed the scheme for the age sequence of the magmatic formations of Tajikistan, he has identified the major features of the petrology and geochemistry of the magmatic formations of Pamir and Hissar-Alai mountains, has determined the regularities of the spatial placement of the endogenous deposits within the region, has isolated the metallogenic zones. He has been awarded with the State Prize of the Tajik SSR named after Avicenna (1970), for the "The intrusive complexes of the southern slope of the Hissar ridge and the mineralization, which is associated with them" monograph. There has been named after the name of Baratov the baratovite mineral (1975).
