The loading of the salt

"ARTEMSOL" (RU: "Артемсоль") is the productive consortium for the extraction of salt within the Donetsk province of the Ukrainian SSR. It has been established in the 1976. It includes 6 underground mines (the mine #1 is the oldest, is operated since the 1898), and other enterprises.

The major industrial and administrative centre is the Karlo-Libknehtovsk city. "Artemsol" develops the Artemovskoe deposit, the salt-bearing stratum of which is confined to the Permian depositions, and has 19 layers with the total capacity of up to 180 metres, and with the angle of dip of 2-5 degrees. The industrial layers are the Nadbryantsevsky, Bryantsevsky, and Podbryantsevsky, with the thickness of 29-40 metres. The content of the NaCl is 97.7-98.7%, of the insoluble residue is 0.2-0.5%, the coefficient of the strength of the salt is 2. The tectonics of the deposit is calm, the hydrogeological conditions for the underground works are favourable. The average depth of the development is 260 metres (the deepest one is 320 metres), the layers of the useful minerals are unsealed with vertical shafts. The prevailing system of the development is the chamber mining, with preservation of the interchamber pillars along the strike. The chambers are with the width of 17 metres, and with the height of 25-36 metres (depending on the thickness of the layer), with the length of 1500-1800 metres. They head the preliminary workings (top and bottom undercutting of the chambers, and the transport drifts) with the "Ural-20 KS" and 4PP-2 combined cutter-loader machines; they are using for the retreat mining works the drilling-blasting method of the breaking, and the rope-chain saws. The loading of the salt is performed with excavators and with the rock-loading machines. The underground transport is the conveyor one; there are also used the automobile trains, and the self-moving electrical railway wagons. The capacity of the mines is 780-2300 thousand tonnes per year. The average daily load on the retreat mining stope is 1500 tonnes, the average monthly productivity of the labour of the worker for the extraction is 684 tonnes (1981).

The hauling of the salt

The salt is processed at the salt preparation plants, it is crushed by the crushers and milled by the roller mills. The product is packed into the packs with the mass of 1 kilogram for the sale to the population, and into the bags with the mass of 50 kilograms for the delivery to the enterprises of the food branches of the industry. The salt is sent to the agricultural enterprises in the form of the boulders (2-40 kilograms), and of the briquettes with mineral additives (5-10 kilograms).
