ABRAMOVICH Mikhail Vladimirovich
ABRAMOVICH, Mikhail Vladimirovich, is the soviet scientist in the field of the petroleum geology, the academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR (since 1955).
He has graduated from the St. Petersburg Mining Institute (1910). He worked in the oil industry of Azerbaijan (1910-30), directed the sector of Geology of the Azerbaijan branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1935-38), the department of the Petroleum Geology in the Institute of Geology of the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR (1938-65).
He explored the Apsheron peninsula and its oil field. He participated in the determination of the stratigraphy, in the cut of the Apsheron productive massive, and in the dividing it into the suite formations, has determined the rhythm of the sedimentation. Has contributed to the creation of the rational system for the placement of the oil wells in the development of the oil-bearing strata.
He has proposed the usage of the gas logs in the search for the oil and gas, has developed the methodology for the evaluation of their prognostic resources. The author of the first soviet training manual on the search and exploration of the oil and gas fields. The submarine rise in the Caspian Sea has been named after Abramovich.
