ABAKUMOV Egor Trofimovich

ABAKUMOV, Egor Trofimovich, was the mining engineer, one of the creators of the Soviet coal industry. HeABAKUMOV Egor Trofimovich has been born on March 5, 1895 in Donetsk, and died on October 30, 1953 in Moscow.

The member of the CPSU since 1918. The Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR in 1937-50. He worked in the mines of the Donbass since 1907. The active participant in the Civil War of 1918-20, and in the establishment of the Soviet government in the Donbass. He worked at the leader job positions in the coal industry of Ukraine and the Sakhalin island since 1920. He has graduated from the Moscow Mining Institute in 1930. The 1st deputy director of the "Metrostroi" since 1933, the director of the "Metrostroi" in 1935-38. The director of the "Glavshahtstroy" in 1938-47. The 1st Deputy Commissar of the coal industry since 1939. The 1st Deputy Minister of the coal industry of the USSR since 1946. During the Great Patriotic War of 1941-45, he directed the development of the solutions for the increase of the mining output of the coking coal in the Kuzbass and Karaganda. He directed the restoration of the mines in the Donbass after the war.

The author of the many inventions, including the underground machine for the impinging and loading. The State Prize of the USSR (1947) has been awarded to him for his work on the improvement and implementation of the shield method for the boring of the tunnels. The name ABAKUMOV has been assigned to the "Petrine-Lidievka" mine (the "Donetsk Coal" industrial group of the companies), and to the Rutchenkovsky Mining College in the Donbass.
